Artist Bio:
A painter originally from Manila, the Philippines, Jesse Medina attended the University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture and Fine Arts, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts—Painting. Jesse has lived in the Philippines, Singapore, San Diego, Orlando, Nebraska, and now in Council Bluffs, IA, at the Harvester Artist Lofts by Artspace Projects, Inc.
Jesse has been a resident of the Harvester Artist Lofts for over 13 years since its opening in 2010. Jesse’s work has been shown and exhibited in the United States and abroad including The Cultural Center of the Philippines; The Folk Arts Theater in the Philippines; The Singapore Museum; Nanyang Academy Singapore; YMCA in the Philippines; San Diego Art Institute; Balboa Park in San Diego; Ayala Museum in Philippines, 1516 Gallery, Split Gallery and the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, NE to name a few. Jesse believes drawing to be basic and fundamental and expresses,
“Art is really the expression of the self. The paintings I create result from my experiences, thoughts, feelings, and will. The subjects represented are signs and symbols used to express an inner vision into the world without.”
