Category: Photo Journalism

Artist Bio:

A native Iowan originally from Council Buffs, Shelly Eisenhauer now lives in rural Mills County where she delights in commonplace treasures of rural life – the visual feast of native plants, natural textures and rolling scenery of back-roads Iowa.

With professional experience spanning portraiture, environmental, and commercial photography, Shelly’s style has been heavily influenced by her 20-year career as a graphic designer. She believes the best work is built from considered choices made by the photographer. Every element in an arresting photograph should have a purpose and be intentional; the things a photographer chooses to exclude make as much impact as what she chooses to include. When Shelly is not behind the lens or keyboard, she's likely exploring outdoors for new themes to use in the studio, where she is currently creating work in silk painting and printmaking as well as photography.
